Limp Bizkit bassist Sam River passes away at 48

Limp Bizkit’s founding bassist and member, Sam Rivers, has passed away at 48. The nu-metal band announced his death on Saturday, October 18, 2025, remembering him as “pure magic” and “our heartbeat.” Bandmates expressed deep sorrow, highlighting his irreplaceable rhythm and enormous heart, stating his spirit will forever resonate in their music and memories.

Sam Rivers, who was the bassist and the founding member of the American nu metal band Limp Bizkit, has passed away. He was 48. The artist took his last breath on Saturday, October 18, 2025.Soon, band members Fred Durst, drummer John Otto, guitarist Wes Borland, and turntablist DJ Lethal mourned the demise of their fellow artist. They went on to call him a “once-in-a-lifetime kind of human.”Sharing an official post on social media with a picture featuring Sam performing on stage, the band wrote, “Today we lost our brother. Our bandmate. Our heartbeat. Sam Rivers wasn’t just our bass player—he was pure magic. The pulse beneath every song, the calm in the chaos, the soul in the sound.”The caption of the post further read, “From the first note we ever played together, Sam brought a light and a rhythm that could never be replaced. His talent was effortless, his presence unforgettable, his heart enormous. We shared so many moments—wild ones, quiet ones, beautiful ones—and every one of them meant more because Sam was there.”It didn’t end there, as the caption continued, “He was a once-in-a-lifetime kind of human. A true legend of legends. And his spirit will live forever in every groove, every stage, every memory.”The band members concluded the post by adding, “We love you, Sam. We’ll carry you with us, always. Rest easy, brother. Your music never ends.”

According to the TMZ report, Sam Rivers and Limp Bizkit drummer John Otto grew up playing together. The bassist met Fred Durst when he was working at Chick-fil-A in the early 1990s. John, Sam, and Fred were the founding members of the band, while guitarist Wes Borland and DJ Lethal joined the group later in 1996. As per the report, the band has six studio albums to their credit. Three of them are ‘Significant Other’, ‘Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water’, and ‘2000’—received critical acclaim. Their best songs include ‘Rollin’ (Air Raid Vehicle)’, ‘Take A Look Around’, ‘My Way’, ‘Behind Blue Eyes’, ‘Nookie’, ‘Hot Dog’ and ‘Break Stuff’.According to a BBN Times report, the net worth of the band is estimated to be between USD 20 and 30 million.
