‘Bison’ box office collections day 4: Film mints Rs 16.25 crore

'Bison Kaalamaadan' box office collections day 4: Dhruv Vikram’s sports drama mints Rs 16.25 crore; Slow but steady rise

Dhruv Vikram’s gripping sports drama, ‘Bison Kaalamaadan’, has struck a chord with audiences, crossing the remarkable milestone of Rs 10 crore at the box office. Under the visionary direction of Mari Selvaraj, the film has raked in around Rs 16.25 crore within its first four days.

Dhruv Vikram’s ‘Bison Kaalamaadan’, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Mari Selvaraj, is showing a slow but steady performance at the box office.According to early estimates by the Sacnilk website, the sports drama collected around Rs 5.65 crore on its fourth day (Monday), bringing its total India net collection to Rs 16.25 crore across four days.

Decent collections

After a modest start with Rs 2.7 crore on its opening day, the film saw a gradual uptick over the weekend which is Rs 3.4 crore on Saturday and Rs 4.5 crore on Sunday, before maintaining momentum on Monday.

High Tamil occupancy

The film registered an impressive 61.74% Tamil occupancy on October 20. This marked a strong showing for a Monday. The afternoon and night shows had occupancy rates of 70.73% and 74.44%, respectively. Morning shows saw 33.40% occupancy, while evening shows held at 68.38%.This encouraging weekday trend indicates sustained interest from Tamil audiences, especially in urban centres.

A grounded sports drama with Mari Selvaraj’s signature

‘Bison Kaalamaadan’ stars Dhruv Vikram alongside Anupama Parameswaran, Pasupathy Ramasaamy, Rajisha Vijayan, Ameer Sultan, and Anurag Arora. The film is inspired by the life of kabaddi player Manathi Ganesan. The drama movie continues Mari Selvaraj’s exploration of social identity and resilience through sport. ETimes gave the film a rating of 3.5 stars out of 5 and an excerpt from our official review reads, “The film also does a good job transitioning from black and white to colour and from past to present. It’s hard not to root for the film’s protagonist considering the innumerable odds stacked against him. But, at the same time, Bison as well as Kittan feel emotionally distant. At several instances in the film, you don’t quite get a grasp of what’s going on in Kittan’s mind or how he’s processing the incidents around him. You see his physical/external reaction but don’t get a sense of his inner emotion.”DISCLAIMER: The box office numbers in this article are compiled from our proprietary sources and diverse public data.
