‘ROI ROI BINALE’, A DREAM PROJECT
Zubeen Garg was deeply involved in the shooting and post-production of Roi Roi Binale, touted as Assam’s first musical film.
According to his close associates, Zubeen was so passionate about completing the film that he was reluctant to leave for Singapore, where he died before he was perform at a concert. He was playing the lead in the film, portraying a character unlike any before, and had previously announced that it would be released on October 31. This commitment reportedly drove him to keep working tirelessly despite his busy schedule.
A few scenes of the film remain unfinished. To honour Zubeen’s wish to release the movie on time, director Rajesh Bhuyan, resumed shooting the remaining portions at the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) campus near Guwahati.
‘DON’T POLITICISE INVESTIGATION’
Zubeen’s wife and co-producer of the film, Garima Garg, was also present during the shoot. Asked about the ongoing investigation into her husband’s death, she expressed both sorrow and faith in the legal process.
“I feel there are too many distractions in this investigation. However, I have full faith in the police. I appeal to everyone not to politicise this process. We are all in deep pain — there’s fire burning in our hearts. I need to know how Zubeen lost his breath there. The truth must come out,” Garima said. “Why is the man who loved everyone now deprived of justice? Why is he being neglected this way? Has humanity vanished?”
Garima said, as per Zubeen’s wish, the entire team is doing everything possible to complete Roi Roi Binale in time for its scheduled release on October 31 — a tribute to his dedication and legacy.
