Calling Operation Sindoor a “shining example” of India’s growing self-reliance and inter-service coordination, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh on Tuesday praised the armed forces for their precision and unity during the recent cross-border operation.

In a message ahead of the 93rd Air Force Day, the Chief of Air Staff said the mission reflected “clear higher direction, indigenous capability, and effective jointmanship between all defence forces.”

The Indian Air Force, he said, remains committed to “defending the nation’s skies by enhancing capabilities, embracing innovation, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism.”

Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7 in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, targeting militant infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The operation led to four days of heavy exchanges, which ended on May 10, following a call from Pakistan’s DGMO to its counterpart in India, appealing to end the conflict.

Reaffirming the IAF’s role beyond combat, Singh noted that the force has consistently been the “first responder to the nation’s call”, from humanitarian rescues during floods and natural disasters to evacuations from global conflict zones, citing examples such as Operation Sindhu and Operation Brahma.

The Air Chief also paid tribute to the personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, saying the IAF’s top priority remains “the protection of India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

The Indian Air Force, officially established on October 8, 1932, will mark its 93rd Air Force Day on Wednesday with celebrations at Hindon Airbase.
