Kalyani Priyadarshan’s ‘Lokah: Chapter 1- Chandra’ beats Ajith’s ‘Good Bad Ugly’ to become 12th biggest hit of 2025

With a staggering Rs 154.24 crore in earnings, Dulquer Salman’s ‘Lokah: Chapter 1- Chandra’ is rewriting the record books and securing its place as the 12th top-grossing Indian film of 2025. This phenomenal success is elevating the standards of Malayalam cinema, paving the way for an ambitious five-part franchise that will bring together talents such as Tovino Thomas and Mammootty.

Dulquer Salman, Dominic Arun, Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen’s Lokah: Chapter 1- Chandra will complete 40 days at the box office today. In the last 39 days the film has gone on to make several records from becoming highest grossing Malayalam film to highest grossing film in Kerala to become the second biggest female led film in India beating Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan’s Tanu Weds Manu Returns.And on 39th day the film made a benchmark, with an overall collection of Rs 154.24 crore the film has now become the 12th biggest at Indian box office 2025 nudging past Ajith’s Good Bad Ugly which had collected Rs 153.77 crore from its lifetime run. WIth Dulquer clearing the air on his social media account that he’s in no rush to release Lokah on OTT anytime soon- the film is expected to stay in theaters at least till it completes 8 weeks in cinema halls.The film would be expected to cross at least Rs 160 crore mark by that end. Lokah: Chapter 1- Chandra is part of a 5 installment universe; a first for Malayalam cinema. On the 20th day of its release the makers announced the second installment of the series which will be led by Tovino Thomas who had a small cameo in the first part and he will be supported by Dulquer. Only time will tell if Kalyani will also make a cameo appearance in the second part or not. For now the third part will be led by Dulquer and fourth part will feature Mammootty and fifth part is expected to bring all of them together for the final rendezvous. In it’s 39 day long run at the ticket window Lokah has gone past films like Ram Charan’s Game Changer, Mohanlal’s Thudarum, Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force and Salman Khan’s Sikander.
