He said, “The loss of lives and property due to heavy rains in Nepal is heartbreaking. We stand with the Nepali people and the Government of Nepal during this difficult time. As a friendly neighbor and first responder, India is committed to providing any kind of assistance that may be needed.”

Nepal has been witnessing continuous rain since Friday. The situation has thrown life out of gear in several areas, also leading to eight major rivers crossing the danger mark in eastern Nepal.

Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force (APF) personnel were deployed for carrying out rescue operations in different areas.

In response to the disaster, the Nepali government announced Nepali rupees (NRs) 2,00,000 as immediate relief to the kin of those who lost their lives in rain-related disasters on Sunday.

Besides the compensation for the deceased, the injured will be provided with free treatment, according to statement by the National Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Authority (NDRRMA).
