A woman travelling from Jammu to Kanpur gave birth to a baby girl at Ambala Cantonment railway station late Friday night after unexpectedly going into labour during her train journey.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Hans Raj, along with female constable Jyoti, responded immediately. Upon locating the woman in a general coach and assessing her critical condition, they contacted emergency services via the 112 helpline.

With the train temporarily halted, the woman and her husband were made to alight the train and brought to a safe area on the platform. A female doctor who had been called in reached the scene shortly after.

Under the supervision of the medical team and women police personnel, the woman successfully delivered a healthy baby girl right at the station.

Following the delivery, both mother and newborn were transported by ambulance to the Civil Hospital in Ambala Cantonment for further care. Medical staff at the hospital later confirmed that both were in stable condition.
