A poorly marked speed breaker in Dehradun has become dangerous for drivers. Videos shared on social media show cars and bikes flying off the ground after hitting the bump and landing several metres away. Looking at the size of the breaker, it might have caused several accidents almost every day. The main problem is that the speed breaker has no visible markings, which makes it hard for drivers to slow down in time.

The video circulating online shows several cars stopping abruptly after hitting the speed breaker. One clip even captured a scooter flying into the air, due to which the rider crashed badly, while bystanders rushed to help. In another clip, a child was seen crying uncontrollably after an accident and people around tried to support the family.

Unmarked Speed Breaker Poses Danger In Dehradun

The video shared on X came with the caption that read, “Speed breakers without reflective markings and rumble strips are an open invitation to accidents. And sadly, such death-traps aren’t rare. You’ll find them scattered across the country, courtesy of Babus and Contractors who seem to be high on something.”

Video Sparks Outrage On Social Media

Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “In India, speed breakers don’t slow cars, they break lives. And babus/contractors walk away free.”

Another shared, “The live example of unaccountability. Those who made this will not get punished.”

“Victims should file a case against the contractors & babus.. but judiciary is already s**t so max you can do is abuse them & move on,” a comment read.

An individual stated, “Drivers need to be extra cautious on Indian roads. While the concerned authorities themselves are beyond callous, we need to take responsibility for our own safety and security.”

Another mentioned, “Even more dangerous when they appear in the middle of nowhere on smooth highways, they’re difficult to judge even during day, forget about night. This is one of the many reasons why many people install super powerful almost blinding headlights in their vehicles.”

One more added, “The classic ‘guess the pothole’ game. Our tax rupees at work, creating these thrilling surprise speed breaks.”

Authorities Yet To Respond

So far, it is unclear whether the local authorities in Dehradun have taken any action to fix the speed breaker.
