‘Court Can’t Close Its Eyes…’: Madras HC Orders SIT Probe Into Karur Stampede

Karur Stampede Row: The Madras High Court on Friday ordered the constitution of an SIT headed by IPS officer Asra Garg to probe the Karur stampede, which claimed the lives of at least 41 people and left several others injured.

While hearing a writ petition questioning why actor-turned-politician Vijay’s name is not included in the FIR in connection with the tragedy, Justice N Senthilkumar noted that a huge man-made disaster had led to the loss of innocent lives.
