A day after Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s claims, top intelligence and naval sources revealed how Pakistan is establishing military complexes, mini-military cantonments and emergency airstrips in Sir Creek, the disputed territory between India and Pakistan, in the south-east area of Sindh.

Singh on Thursday issued a stern warning to Pakistan against expanding military infrastructure in the bordering Sir Creek area, saying it would be met with a decisive response that can alter both history and geography.

Around 150 square kilometres area surrounded by Sir Creek is controlled by Pakistan army, said local Pakistani fishermen, adding that nobody is allowed without military permission in the specific areas near Sir Creek.

After Operation Sindoor, Pakistan has increased the number of battalions, air power and naval vessels in the area.

More battalions: What sources say

Pakistan has increased four more creek battalions of Sindh regiment. A total six military battalions are protecting and operational in Sir Creek areas and surroundings.

The 31st creek battalion was deployed at Sujawal district headquarters in 1999. The 32nd creek battalion was deployed at Gharo, Thatta district headquarters in 2019. The 33rd creek battalion was deployed at Badin district headquarters in 2021. The 34th creek battalion deployed at Jaati Area in 2025. The 35th creek battalion was deployed at Keti Bunder in 2025.

“All battalions have infantry and amphibious strength and power. All creek battalions have full back up support of Pakistan Navy and Sindh Pakistan rangers. Pakistan has boosted air defence systems and air power,” said sources.

Military, naval and airforce command: What sources say

Pakistan had established joint military, naval and airforce command for Sir Creek monitoring in South-East Sindh with Chinese help in 2021. “Most of the latest radars, AWACS, air defense missiles and lockheed P-3 Orion deployed have been developed with Chinese technology,” said sources.

Bholari forward airbase, marine security posts: What sources say

Pakistan had made Bholari forward airbase in 2017 to safeguard Chinese projects in South-east Sindh, especially Thar coal project, and to avert direct Indian threat. “Bholari base was damaged during Operation Sindoor strikes in May 2025. Pakistani Airforce has enhanced Bholari Air Base’s air security with latest air defense systems. More squadrons of JF-17 and J-10C deployed too after Indian strikes in May 2025,” said sources.

The Pakistan Navy has set up six marine security posts between Bandha Dhora and Harami Dhoro areas near Sir Creek river system. “Dozens of coastal defense boats, marine assault crafts, naval ships and patrolling speed boats are deployed in Sir Creek and Arabian Sea for deterrence. China is facilitating Pakistan in air and naval power rapidly,” said sources.
