A 20-year-old NEET aspirant from Delhi was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his paying guest (PG) accommodation in Kota, Rajasthan, on Wednesday, police said.

The student, identified as Lucky Choudhary, was originally from Patna, Bihar, and had been living in Kota for the past two years while preparing for the NEET exam online. His PG was located in Sector-2 under the jurisdiction of Vigyan Nagar Police Station.

Circle Inspector Mukesh Meena said the door to the room was bolted from the inside at two places. “We have found no sign of foul play at this stage,” he stated. However, no suicide note was recovered, and Lucky’s mobile phone and wallet were also missing from the room.

Police also confirmed that another student from Bihar, who was living in an adjoining room in the same PG, has gone missing since the incident.

Lucky’s maternal uncle, Koshal Kumar Choudhary, alleged foul play and said Lucky was not someone who would take his own life. He pointed suspicion towards a youth named Rahul, also from Patna, who was known to visit Lucky frequently and is currently missing.

Lucky’s father also raised doubts over the nature of his son’s death. He alleged that Rahul, who was not a student, used to visit the PG room with his girlfriend. He further revealed that Lucky had recently borrowed Rs 40,000 and had shared with his sister that he was under pressure to repay the amount.

According to the family, Rs 10,000 had already been sent to Lucky, and the remaining amount was due to be transferred soon.

ASI Lal Singh confirmed that the body was handed over to the family on Thursday after the post-mortem examination.

He added that a case has been registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and further investigation is ongoing.
