Washing clothes used to be a time-consuming chore. From scrubbing to rinsing, it could take hours. But today, washing machines make life much easier — a simple press of a button does the work. Yet even modern machines have their quirks.
You load your clothes, add detergent, start the machine… and expect fresh results. But often, clothes come out with white streaks or marks. Even re-washing does not help, and new clothes start looking worn. The culprit? Too much detergent and incomplete rinsing.
If your washing machine leaves detergent stains, there is an easy fix — no harsh chemicals, no extra effort. Just add one simple item to the wash cycle, and your clothes will come out cleaner, softer, and brighter.
White lines happen when detergent does not dissolve fully or rinse away completely. Hard water and overuse of detergent make this worse. While chemical cleaners are common solutions, there is a simpler trick using everyday items that works surprisingly well.
Take a plastic bag (polythene) and tie it tightly into a knot. Add it to the washing machine along with your clothes. As the machine runs, the bag will rub against the fabric, helping loosen detergent residues trapped in fibres.
Once the wash cycle finishes, remove clothes and the polythene bag. Dry your clothes in sunlight. You will notice the stains fade or disappear, clothes look shinier, feel softer, and have a fresh, clean finish — almost like new.
