‘Habitual Liar, London Number, Lewd Chats’: Revelations From Delhi Ashram Baba’s Interrogation

The interrogation of self-styled godman Swami Chaitanyananda, in the net for sexually harassing over a dozen women, has revealed a disturbing pattern of deceit, manipulation, and digital exploitation, CNN-News18 has learnt.

Sources said data from the digital devices seized from Chaitanyananda includes hundreds of chats with women, deleted messages, screenshots of profile pictures, and personal images, some of which include photographs with multiple air hostesses.

The cops have also found that Chaitanyananda continued to pursue women digitally while he was on the run. He allegedly used a WhatsApp number registered in London, possibly to mask his identity and location.

The sources added that Chaitanyananda often posed as a man with deep political connections, falsely claiming he could arrange jobs or offer influential positions. This deceptive tactic was reportedly used to gain the trust of unsuspecting women.

The godman, to put it simply, was relentless. CNN-News18 has learnt that in many of the chats retrieved by the Delhi Police, he would pester women with repeated messages, often without any response from the other side. This persistent harassment allegedly went on for weeks or even months.

Chaitanyananda also allegedly attempted to seduce a man known to him through a third-party setup. Police have found digital transactions indicating that he paid women to lure the man, the sources added.

Among the various apps found on his phone, one particularly disturbing find was an application used to remotely monitor CCTV footage which, investigators suspect, could have been used for voyeuristic purposes.

Known to his inner circle as a habitual liar, Chaitanyananda is said to have frequently boasted about his access to top echelons of power. When he learned that a criminal case had been registered against him, he allegedly told his staff not to worry as he would “personally speak to the Chief Justice of India” to make the issue disappear, sources said.

“Chaitanyanandaa has been evasive in the interrogation and is not cooperating. Two other women accomplices are being interrogated by us and they have admitted to helping him to pressure women students to fullfil his demands,” said DCP South West Amit Goyal.

Chaitanyanandaa is accused of molesting 17 female students at a private institute in Delhi’s Vasant Kunj. He had allegedly sent lewd and inappropriate messages to young women and had been absconding for nearly two months.

Police also uncovered his involvement in multiple fraudulent activities, including forging visiting cards and passports. Two fake visiting cards were recovered: one identifying him as a Permanent Ambassador of the United Nations, and the other as an Indian Special Envoy of BRICS.

In addition to sexual harassment, he also faces charges of financial misappropriation. Police say that after fleeing, he withdrew approximately Rs 60 lakh, and is believed to have misappropriated more than Rs 30 crore overall.
