Who is Shekhar Jyoti Goswami? Musician questioned by SIT amid Zubeen Garg death probe

Singer Zubeen Garg’s demise has sent shockwaves across Assam and the music community. Investigations are underway, and in a recent development, musician Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, a long-time associate and bandmate of the singer, has been reportedly detained by the Assam Police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT).

Who is Shekhar Jyoti Goswami?

While authorities have confirmed his detention, they have not revealed the reasons behind it or the specific role he may have played in the incident.

Two people were detained for allegedly inciting the mob and causing disturbances, according to officials.Apart from Goswami and Sharma, there are growing demands for the arrest of Shyamkanu Mahanta and Siddhartha Sharma. Both were reportedly not present at their homes when the SIT visited during separate raids.

Zubeen Garg’s death certificate from Singapore lists drowning as the cause. Assam Chief MinisterHimanta Biswa Sarma has urged patience from fans while noting that the post-mortem report may reveal more details.“We have to keep patience and let the SIT investigate. We will wait for their report and if this turns out to be unsatisfactory, we can definitely go for a CBI enquiry. But for now, I would suggest all Zubeen fans to have patience,” Sarma said.

SIT continues investigations and awaits autopsy report

A 10-member SIT was formed under CID special DGP Munna Prasad Gupta to investigate the case. An autopsy was also done at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on September 23, but the report is still awaited.
