Shivraj Singh lashed out at his mother’s actions, questioning if raining shoes on an elderly relative over property could in any way be called women’s empowerment

Raghuraj Pratap Singh, popularly known as Raja Bhaiya, the MLA representing the Kunda assembly constituency in Pratapgarh district, Uttar Pradesh, is embroiled in a family dispute. His wife, Bhanvi Singh, and their daughter have been consistently posting accusations against him on social media.

Recently, his son, Shivraj Pratap Singh, also joined the controversy by sharing a video of his mother and a lengthy post containing serious allegations against her.

Shivraj Pratap Singh tweeted, “I had already said that I hope I don’t have to post about this matter again, but when all limits of absurdity are, a response becomes necessary. The general public and social media are already hurling abuses at them, and they only seem to rely on their paid ‘troll army.’ They have repeatedly made a spectacle of themselves in court as well. On several occasions, the honorable judge had to reprimand their lawyer, saying, “Silence your client, teach her how to behave in court and the manners of speaking in court.” Far from improving after these incidents, they have become even more frustrated.”

In his post, Singh shared another example of his mother’s behaviour, stating, “Take a look at another example of their antics: my maternal grandfather has four daughters and wishes to divide his property equally among them, which is only fair. But she wants to grab the entire property of my grandparents for herself, leading to ongoing lawsuits. However, lawsuits alone don’t satisfy our mother, so she has even resorted to violence and attacked them multiple times.”

“Yes, it’s true that my maternal family doesn’t have as much wealth as we have in Benti-Bhadri, by the grace of God. It is well-known among our relatives and family that my grandfather bore the entire expense of my parents’ wedding from both sides. Despite this, she didn’t spare my grandfather either. In her written statement submitted to the court, she called him a ‘dowry seeker’ and even went so far as to say that he is not a ‘respectable person.’ When the time comes, I will post all the documents she submitted in court,” he added.

Shivraj Singh further revealed that in the false FIR filed by his mother against his uncle, she had also implicated his grandmother. He emphasised that while such rhetoric might make for sensational news on social media, it does not affect the merits of the case. He also questioned whether the demand for a lump sum of Rs 100 crore and Rs 25 lakh per month amounted to extortion.

In a shocking revelation, Shivraj posted a video showing his mother, Bhanvi Kumari, purportedly raining shoes on her elderly and ailing mother over a property dispute. He criticised this behaviour and questioned whether such actions could be described as women’s empowerment.

He warned that his mother’s hired troll army might try to remind them of the “debt of milk,” but insisted it was more important to remind his “shoe-wielding” mother of this very debt.
