Shawls, Painting: Gifts Received By PM Modi Up For Auction To Support Namami Gange Project

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday invited the public to participate in an ongoing online auction of gifts and mementoes he has received during various official events and programmes.

The auction, which features a wide range of items showcasing Indian culture and craftsmanship, aims to raise funds government’s river conservation initiative Namami Gange.

Taking to social media platform X, the Prime Minister wrote, “Over the past few days, the online auction for the various gifts I have received during my different programmes has been underway.”

“The auction includes very interesting works which illustrate the culture and creativity of India. The proceeds from the auction will go towards Namami Gange. Do take part in the auction,” he added.

The mementoes up for auction include paintings, traditional handicrafts, folk art pieces, artefacts, and items presented by various dignitaries and organisations. Many of these gifts hold cultural and symbolic value, offering a glimpse into India’s diverse heritage.

The Namami Gange programme focuses on the rejuvenation of the River Ganga and its tributaries through various environmental and infrastructure-based initiatives.
