Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati alias Parth Sarthy, the self-styled godman booked for molestation of female students at Sri Sharada Institute of Indian Management in Delhi, used to call the students, specifically those under the EWS scholarship, to his room during the late hours via WhatsApp messages.

He then used to demand physical favours from them, and threatened them with low marks or failure if they resisted, investigations have revealed.

MESSAGES FROM STUDENTS’ PHONES DELETED

In their complaints, the victims alleged that obscene messages sent by the Baba on their mobile phones were deleted through intimidation by a female warden.

Subsequently, the mobile phones of the women were sent for a forensic analysis, and the police recorded the statements of three wardens and questioned them as accomplices.

The police also recorded statements of 32 female Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) students, of whom 17 confirmed facing abusive language, unwanted physical advances, and harassment by the self-styled godman.

DELHI ASHRAM’S CCTV FOOTAGE DELETED

Investigations further revealed that the CCTV footage from the premises of the institute was deleted, and that the accused had changed his name from Saraswati to Parth.

The police also received a complaint of fraud against the Baba, and were on the lookout for him across Rajasthan, Bihar, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, as, despite raids and surveillance, the accused remains on the run.

A Lookout Circular (LOC) against him was also issued to prevent him from fleeing abroad.

Multiple licences and diplomatic UN number plates were also recovered from the Volvo car of the accused, and were being examined.

DELHI ASHRAM MOLESTATION ACCUSED FILES BAIL PLEA

As the investigations progressed, the Baba filed an anticipatory bail plea in a Delhi court. However, the plea was turned down following strong opposition by the Delhi Police.

It was also known that the accused was in the UK when the case came to light, and at the time of the registration of an FIR against him.

DELHI ASHRAM MOLESTATION CASE DETAILS

The complaint against the self-styled godman was first filed on August 4 at the Vasant Kunj North Police Station. According to the police, the accused was a sanchalak (member of the management committee) at the institute, news agency PTI reported.

While the police recorded the statements of a total of 32 female students, 17 of them alleged that Saraswati used abusive language, sent obscene messages, and made unwanted physical advances.

PTI quoted the police as saying that some faculty members, including women, also pressured the students to comply with his demands.

A case was registered under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, with 16 complainants later deposing before a magistrate.

Another FIR against him was lodged on August 25, and his vehicle was seized. Police said the accused has been evading arrest since.

Police said efforts are underway to trace Saraswati, and multiple teams have been formed. PTI also quoted sources as saying that teams were keeping a strict vigil at airports to prevent him from fleeing the country.
