In Andhra Pradesh, three transgender individuals assaulted a nurse at a hospital after she refused to give them money, raising concerns over staff safety.

A group of transgender individuals assaulted a nurse at a hospital in Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district on Tuesday after she refused to give them money.

The incident reportedly happened at around 2 pm when the group, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, entered the hospital premises and demanded money from the staff as part of a customary practice during festivals. When the nurse declined, the situation quickly turned violent, causing chaos. The assault triggered panic among patients present in the hospital.

The entire incident was captured on CCTV. The footage shows three transgender individuals entering the hospital and approaching the nurse at the reception. Moments later, one of them became aggressive while demanding money.

The video shows the group surrounding the nurse in an empty reception area.

A male hospital employee attempted to defuse the situation, but a heated argument broke out as the nurse continued to refuse their demand. The confrontation quickly escalated into violence. The footage shows the group hitting the nurse with hospital files she was holding, dragging her by the hair, tearing her clothes, and physically assaulting her.

Hospital staff intervened shortly after and managed to separate the attackers from the victim. The nurse sustained minor injuries. According to preliminary reports, the group also hurled verbal abuse during the attack. The incident has raised concerns over staff safety and security in public hospitals, especially during festive periods when such demands are common.
