A female student of VVIT College was found dead in an apparent suicide at a ladies’ hostel near the Mayor’s office in Ashok Nagar, Guntur district.
According to initial reports, the student is believed to have taken her life around midnight by sealing her mouth with plaster.

Local residents alerted authorities after discovering the incident. Police from Pattabhipuram station arrived at the spot and have registered a case.
Officials said an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances leading to the student’s death. More details are awaited as inquiries continue.
Earlier, a 19-year-old engineering student from Telangana died by suicide on Sunday night, reportedly after being assaulted and forced to pay a party bill by a group of youths.
The incident occurred at a private hostel in Narapally on the outskirts of Hyderabad, where the student from Adilabad district was found hanging in his room.
According to the police, he had attended a party with friends at a bar, where an argument broke out over who would pay the bill. The student was allegedly pressured to cover the cost, which amounted to Rs 10,000.
As per the preliminary investigation, the situation escalated into a physical altercation. The student was reportedly beaten and insulted by some local youths. Before taking the drastic step, he recorded a video detailing what had happened to him.
In the video, he said that he had been taken to a bar against his will, forced to drink alcohol, and then made to pay the entire bill of Rs 10,000. He also alleged that he was threatened and physically assaulted, and spoke about the humiliation he faced.
Police have filed a case and launched an investigation. They are reviewing the video footage and questioning those suspected of involvement in the altercation. The student’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
