Priyadarshan: ‘I will direct Hera Pheri 3 only if the script…’

'I don’t want to fall badly': Priyadarshan ends speculation around Hera Pheri 3, says he will direct only if script lives up to original

Priyadarshan is hesitant to direct Hera Pheri 3 unless the script matches the original’s charm, emphasizing the need for a compelling story. Paresh Rawal confirmed that shooting is expected to begin in February-March next year. Despite past issues, Rawal maintains a strong relationship with Priyadarshan, indicating their bond has strengthened.

Priyadarshan has finally addressed the long-standing buzz around Hera Pheri 3. Known for creating one of India’s most beloved comedies, he has kept fans waiting for confirmation about the return of Raju, Shyam, and Baburao. The director has now made it clear that he will only direct the third installment if the story matches the charm and humor of the original.

Director stresses importance of the script

In a chat with Pinkvilla, the director said, “I cannot tell if I am doing the third part, unless and until I can crack a film which has to do justice to the first installment. The first part was born, but the third one shouldn’t let it die. If I am doing the film, I have to make sure that it is tolerable for people who watched the first part.”Elaborating further, he added, “Unless and until I crack the full film, I will never attempt part three. If a good script doesn’t turn out to my conviction, I will not do the film. I have climbed certain heights in my career from where I don’t want to fall badly.”

Paresh Rawal updates on shooting schedule

Meanwhile, Paresh Rawal, in an interview with News18 Showsha, said, “Hera Pheri 3 is a work in progress. We’ll start shooting for the film in February-March next year.” The actor revealed that he had valid reasons for stepping away from the film earlier and had even returned his signing amount with interest. “But all’s well now,” he said. When asked whether the incident affected his relationship with director Priyadarshan, with whom he has worked on several projects, he remained diplomatic.

Relationship with Priyadarshan remains strong

He further added, “A lot has happened but that hasn’t soured my relationship with Priyadarshan. Aise rishta kharab nahi hota hai. In fact, what has happened is that it has further solidified our equation. Through all of this, we now know each in a sharper and better way. Ghaav bhar gaya hai. Our relationship is very transparent.”
