A shocking incident in Guwahati has raised concerns over public safety after a young woman from Tripura, along with two teenagers, endured a harrowing ordeal in the city.
The incident took place on the seventh floor of a private building in Panikhaiti. Two Manipuri teenagers, who are students at a private university, have been apprehended by the Pragjyotishpur police. A case has been filed under Section 125/25 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita under sections 70(1) and 3(5) at the Pragjyotishpur police station.
According to the victim’s complaint, she attended a night party with several teenagers in the building on the night of September 13. After the party, the young woman retired to her room adjacent to the party venue.
Subsequently, a drunk teenager entered her room. The victim, identified as 19-year-old Arun Kumar, a local resident, attempted to leave the room but was prevented by four other teenagers.
Based on the young woman’s complaint, the police have arrested two individuals and are interrogating three others who attended the party that night.
