Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in strengthening national security and the economy, while reiterating India’s firm stance against terrorism.

Speaking at the Hyderabad Liberation Day event, Singh referred to India’s counter-operation against terrorism, and said, “You might have recently seen ‘Operation Sindoor’, in the month of May. They (terrorists) came to Pahalgam and asked tourists their religion, and killed our brothers, but our forces did not see their religion and killed them because of what they did.”

Dismissing claims that India’s ceasefire with Pakistan was influenced by external powers, the Defence Minister said, “There are some people who say that the ceasefire between India and Pakistan happened because of someone else, but I want to tell it clearly that it has not happened because of anyone’s interference.”

He asserted that the counter-terror operation remains ongoing.

“‘Operation Sindoor’ is still on. Some who claim that they have stopped it, I want to make it clear that no one has stopped it.”

“The damage that has been caused because of ‘Operation Sindoor’, a Jaish-e-Mohammed commander has accepted, the family of terrorist Masood Azhar was killed in this operation,” Rajnath Singh said.

Reaffirming India’s resolve, Singh declared, “Our patience should not be seen as weakness. India has proved that those who do not understand the language of talk and peace, we know how to reply to them in the same manner.”

“‘Operation Sindoor’ has not stopped yet. It is not the end,” he said.

Rajnath Singh also said, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, we have fulfilled the dream of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel of removing Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.”

On India’s economic rise, he stated, “In 2014, when Modi ji took charge as Prime Minister, India’s economy was in 11th position, and now it has taken a jump and is at the fourth position. In the coming years, India’s economy will stand in the top three countries’ position.”

Rajnath Singh was the chief guest at the Hyderabad Liberation Day celebrations, organised by the Union government at Parade Grounds in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

The event was held to celebrate the anniversary of the merger of the erstwhile Hyderabad State under Nizam rule with the Indian Union on September 17, 1948.

Union Ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar were also present on the occasion.
