A video has gone viral in Chinese social media in which Chinese air defence system appears to be shooting down an unidentified flying object (UFO).

In the absence of any official statement, the speculation has been rife whether the UFO was an alien spacecraft or a meteor that Chinese interceptors shot down.

As per Newsweek, footage shared by locals in China’s coastal city of Weifang showed a flaming projectile tearing through the night sky on Friday that collides with another moving object moving towards it from the opposite direction. The collision leads to a bright explosion.

It appears that the first object was intercepted an air defence system.

The authenticity of such a claim or the footage could not be independently confirmed.

Post on Chinese social media platform Weibo claimed that at least two missiles five missiles apart approached the object.

The speculation online has ranged from China conducting a military test to shooting down a meteor or even shooting down an alien spacecraft.

In the Communist China where the regime is neither obligated to explain developments nor people or institutions are free to ask questions, explanations for such instances almost never comes. The absence of explanation leads to speculations in China and the world over.
