Ileana D'Cruz feels Ranbir Kapoor was UNAWARE of his talent; recalls getting 'offended' by 'Barfi' director Anurag Basu

Ileana D’Cruz marked her debut in Bollywood with ‘Barfi’. In a recent interview, the actress praised her co-star Ranbir Kapoor and his talent. She also talked about having a heated conversation with the film’s director, Anurag Basu.

Ileana D’Cruz calls Ranbir Kapoor an actor full of ‘talent’

In an interview with NDTV, Ileana D’Cruz shared that she always knew Ranbir was a great actor. The actress stated that she was in “awe” after working with him and added, “He’s incredibly chill and very easy to work with.”Ileana also praised her co-star, Priyanka Chopra, saying, “Even with Priyanka, it just flowed.” However, she recalled that since she had the majority of the scenes with RK, “it felt like he’s unaware of his own talent—he’s just that effortless.”

Ileana on Ranbir and Anurag’s pranks

In the same interview, Ileana opened up about the prank Ranbir and Anurag pulled on her when their characters were supposed to eat phuchkas. She said, “Dada (Anurag Basu) kept insisting I put the entire phuchka in my mouth at once. It was chaotic, and I kept asking the vendor to make it sweet, but somehow it was only getting spicier.”According to her, she later found out that Kapoor had been switching them all along. She said, “That’s Ranbir for you.”

Ileana opens up about having a heated conversation with Anurag Basu

Talking to the publication, Ileana D’Cruz shared that she once arrived on the set “really happy” and greeted director Basu. However, to her surprise, the director wasn’t in a mood, and he lashed out at her. She recalled, “I was so offended that I told him if he thought I wasn’t right for the part, I would leave.” The actress added that she called Siddharth Roy Kapur, the film’s producer’ and told him that she is “ready to quit.”Ileana stated that later, Anurag came and apologised to her. The actress mentioned the director telling her that she had walked in at the wrong time. She said Basu asked her not to take him seriously. Ileana shared, “We laughed it off and hugged.”

The film was made on a reported budget of Rs 30 crore and went on to collect more than Rs 175 crore at the box office globally. It was also India’s official entry to the Oscars in the Best Foreign Language Film category. Go to Source
