This is Prime Minister Modi’s second visit to Kolkata in less than a month as West Bengal gears up for high-stakes Assembly elections next year. He visited Kolkata in August to inaugurate Rs 5,200-crore worth of infrastructure projects, including three crucial metro stretches.

PM Modi’s Schedule In Kolkata

According to an official release, PM Modi will inaugurate the 16th Combined Commanders’ Conference-2025 in Kolkata at around 9:30 am on Monday as part of his ambitious vision of a strong, secure and self-reliant India.

The conference is the apex-level brainstorming forum of the Indian Armed Forces, which brings together the nation’s top civilian and military leadership to exchange views and lay the groundwork for the future development of India’s military preparedness.

The Combined Commanders’ Conference, held once every two years, will take place in Kolkata’s Fort William from September 15-17. The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Year of Reforms – Transforming for the Future’. The discussions are expected to focus on a range of crucial topics, including the progress of higher defence reforms, according to The Indian Express.

PM Modi’s Bihar Visit

After concluding his visit in Kolkata, PM Modi will visit poll-bound Bihar, where he will inaugurate multiple development projects worth around Rs 36,000 crore, including a thermal power project and rail projects.

He will also inaugurate the new terminal building of Purnea airport at around 2:45 pm, which will enhance passenger handling capacity. He will also lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple development projects and address the gathering on the occasion. He will also launch the National Makhana Board in Bihar, as per the release.

PM Modi’s whirlwind five-nation tour began with Mizoram, where he inaugurated a landmark Bairabi-Sairang rail line at a cost of Rs 8,070 crore. His next visit was in Manipur, which has been struggling with ethnic violence since 2023. Modi flagged off multiple development projects, signalling the Centre’s efforts to bring peace in the state.

In Assam, the Prime Minister paid a tribute to legendary singer Bhupen Hazarika during his birth centenary celebrations and inaugurated major infrastructure and industrial development projects worth over Rs 18,530 crore.
