How NIRF Rankings Are Decided

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is an annual ranking system introduced by India’s Ministry of Education. It evaluates higher education institutions across various categories, including universities, colleges, research institutions, innovation hubs, and open universities. The ranking assesses institutions based on five key parameters: Teaching, Learning & Resources; Research and Professional Practices; Graduation Outcomes; Outreach and Inclusivity; and Perception.
