Mohan Bhagwat Dedicated His Life To Societal Transformation, Says PM As RSS Chief Turns 75

Mohan Bhagwat is the third longest-serving chief of the organisation after Madhukar Dattatreya Deoras, popularly known as Balasaheb; and MS Golwalkar.

Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat, who turned 75 on Thursday, has dedicated his entire life to societal transformation and strengthening the spirit of harmony and fraternity, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

On the occasion, PM Modi shared an article with the media stating that Bhagwat’s tenure will be considered the most transformative period in the 100-year journey of the RSS.

“Being Sarsanghchalak is more than an organisational responsibility. Extraordinary individuals have defined this role through personal sacrifice, clarity of purpose and unshakable commitment to Maa Bharti. Mohan Ji, in addition to doing full justice to the enormity of the responsibility, has also brought to it his own strength, intellectual depth and empathetic leadership, all of which is inspired by the principle of Nation First.”

In a post on X, Defence minister Rajnath Singh also extended his wishes to the RSS chief and said that he made an invaluable contribution in preserving India’s cultural values.

“With a resolve for nation-building and character-building, he is a true seeker who works with complete dedication. His invaluable contribution to the promotion and preservation of India’s cultural values serves as an inspiration for countless swayamsevaks of India. I pray to God that he lives a long life and attains excellent health,” he said.

Born on September 11, 1950 in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district, Bhagwat began working as RSS “pracharak” about 50 years ago and became its chief in March 2009. He is the third longest-serving chief of the organisation after Madhukar Dattatreya Deoras, popularly known as Balasaheb; and MS Golwalkar.
