Parliament Update: Lok Sabha to Resume Debate on Public Examinations Amendment Bill 2026

The Lok Sabha will continue discussions today on the Public Examinations (Amendment) Bill, 2026, aimed at strengthening the examination system and preventing paper leaks. The second round of debate is scheduled to begin at 12:00 PM, with Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi expected to participate. Union Minister Jitendra Singh is likely to respond to the discussion around 2:00 PM, after which the government is expected to seek the Bill’s passage. The legislation may also be introduced in the Rajya Sabha later today. The government has described the Bill as a significant reform to improve examination security and curb malpractice, while the Opposition has demanded greater accountability over recent paper leak incidents. During yesterday’s debate, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi questioned the government’s handling of the issue and raised concerns about the impact on students whose futures were affected. He also suggested creating an AI-based question bank with minimal human intervention and called for stronger administrative oversight and more reliable biometric verification at examination centres to prevent future leaks.
