The investigation into the alleged donation theft case at the Ram Temple has intensified after the Special Investigation Team (SIT) submitted its preliminary report highlighting serious irregularities in the donation management system. The Ram Janmabhoomi Trust has accepted the resignations of General Secretary Champat Rai Bansal and trustee Anil Mishra during its recent meeting. Both had stepped down after questions were raised over their roles following the start of the SIT probe. According to the preliminary report, the issue was not limited to the actions of a few employees but involved major lapses in the overall donation handling process. The SIT found that rules meant to ensure transparency and supervision during donation counting were not properly followed and were weakened, creating opportunities for theft. CCTV footage reportedly showed some employees removing cash from currency bundles and hiding notes. The investigation also revealed possible theft of cash and valuables during counting. The SIT has recommended a detailed examination of bank accounts, assets, and financial transactions to trace the suspected stolen amount. The probe has been extended until July 15.
