The Ram Temple donation theft case has sparked further debate over accountability, with questions being raised about the number of accused, the role of trust officials, and when the irregularities were first detected. In an ABP News interview, Govind Dev Ji said that the trust had received information about the alleged theft before a public tweet by Akhilesh Yadav. According to him, Champat Rai became aware of the issue around early June and initially tried to resolve it internally, but later sought an SIT investigation when the matter appeared serious. He admitted that approaching the police was delayed due to confusion over the appropriate course of action, calling it a lapse rather than an attempt to protect anyone. While defending Champat Rai from direct involvement, he alleged that Rai’s trust in certain individuals and management approach contributed to negligence. He said the alleged mastermind was reportedly a close personal aide and driver. The trust expressed regret over the incident and assured that corrective measures would be taken after the final SIT report. The investigation continues into the accused and system failures.
