The southwest monsoon remains active across India, bringing heavy rainfall and widespread disruption to several states, including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. In Maharashtra’s Nashik district, the India Meteorological Department has issued a red alert, warning of a possible cloudburst between Nashik and Trimbakeshwar and forecasting up to 300 mm of rain within 24 hours. Continuous downpours have caused flooding in villages, waterlogging, and heightened landslide risks. Authorities have closed all schools, colleges, and major religious sites, including the Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga and Saptashrungi Temple, while traffic has been suspended on the Bhavdari Ghat route due to landslide concerns. Disaster response teams, including the NDRF and SDRF, have been deployed, and vulnerable residents have been shifted to safer locations. Officials are closely monitoring the situation as rain continues. Across other affected states, heavy rainfall has led to overflowing rivers, flooding, and disruptions to daily life. The administration has urged people to avoid unnecessary travel, follow official weather advisories, and remain alert until conditions improve.
