Sanjay recalls woman’s death, police call over Rs 159 crore

Sanjay Dutt recalls strange police call after woman’s death leaving him property worth Rs 159 crore: ‘I didn’t even know the lady’

Sanjay Dutt, who recently appeared on The Great Indian Kapil Show with Suniel Shetty, shared an unusual story about receiving a call from the police station. The actor admitted he was initially nervous, wondering what trouble awaited him.“I got a call from the police station saying that they want to meet me,” Sanjay recalled. To his surprise, the news was not about a case but rather a huge inheritance. The police informed him that a woman had passed away, leaving behind property worth around Rs 159 crore in his name, including a building in South Bombay.Dutt, however, said he had never met the lady. “I told the police that I did not know her and hence had no right to the property.” He returned the estate to her family on the condition that it should be used properly.

Life in prison: theatre, carpentry and Radio YCP

During the conversation, Sanjay also opened up about how his passion for acting helped him endure his prison years. He formed a theatre group inside Yerwada jail, directing plays with fellow inmates — including some convicted of murder.

“I was the director,” he said with a touch of dark humour. He also tried his hand at carpentry, earning wages for making chairs and even paper bags. The Munna Bhai MBBS star further revealed how he started a prison radio station, Radio YCP. “We had topics to talk about, and we also did comedy. I hosted the programme, while three or four inmates helped write the script,” he said.Sanjay Dutt was convicted in 2007 under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA) for illegal possession of arms linked to the 1993 Mumbai blasts. He served his sentence between 2013 and 2016 in Pune’s Yerwada Central Jail.
