FitFlop links with Pantone, collab mixes biomechanics with psychology of colour

FitFlop is launching an interesting collaboration this month as it teams up with Pantone on a two-part collab uniting its “biomechanical expertise” with Pantone’s “authority in colour”.

This all comes to life via shoes available in “a curated palette of soft pastels and warm, grounding tones designed to evoke lightness, ease and emotional balance at the height of summer”.

What’s particularly interesting is that FitFlop has been built on physical tech designed to contribute to foot health and general wellbeing, while this link-up is “rooted in the idea that colour shapes how we feel”. It “explores optimism and calm in equal measure, translating tone and texture into wearable design that supports both movement and mindset”.

It all kicks off on 9 July with the first collection introducing The Colour of Comfort, “an exploration into how colour shapes the way we feel, move and experience footwear”.

Of course, this being FitFlop it’s also “underpinned by science and biomechanical innovation” and “reflects a growing cultural shift towards considered design that actively supports wellbeing”.

The first collection — priced from £38 to £110 — features 12 SKUs across four core silhouettes: the IQushion Flip‑Flop, Delicato Poise Mary‑Jane, Delicato Poise Ballerina and Retro‑Q Sneake.

Each one is available in three “considered” colourways with the companies saying the shades were selected not only for visual appeal, but for “emotional resonance, designed to lift mood, create balance and enhance the everyday experience of footwear”.

So as well as the engineering that goes into the shoes, “subtle Pantone signatures, from Colour Chip accent to precise Colour ID markings”, are integrated throughout, “reinforcing the connection between each design and its exact shade”.

Having introduced what they believe is a “new way of thinking about footwear, where colour moves beyond decoration to support wellbeing, enhance movement and shape how we feel throughout the day,” the partners are now prepping a second chapter to come later in the year. This will follow up the summer offer with a drop more attuned to cooler weather.
