Farah Khan Ali opens up on dating Bobby Deol, denies Neelam Kothari coming between them: 'She came much later, we were childhood sweethearts, held hands'

Sanjay Khan and Zarine Khan’s daughter Farah Khan Ali is a renowned jewellery designer was rumoured to be dating Bobby Deol while they were growing up. In a recent interview, Farah has reacted to these rumours. She was also asked if her relationship with Neelam spoilt because she came into Bobby’s life. Opening up on it, Farah said that she and Bobby were just childhood sweethearts and she’s very happy that he’s now married to Tanya. She said in an interview with Vickey Lalwani, “We were childhood sweethearts. I had a massive crush on him. He had a massive crush on me. And that’s it. I mean, nothing. We held hands. We wrote letters to each other. That’s it. No dating? No. I mean, those days we were… it’s not like today. I was 16, Bobby was 17. That was around 40 years ago, life was very different. Today it’s not the same when you’re 16 and 17.”Farah also revealed that despite their brief teenage romance, she and Bobby have remained extremely close over the years. She said she also shares a strong bond with his wife, Tanya Deol. “Probably today he is one of my closest friends, and so is Tanya, his wife, whom I adore them from the bottom of my heart.” When reminded that Bobby and Tanya had attended the launch of her jewellery store, Farah said their relationship has grown far beyond the past.“They’re family to me, and there’s nothing I would not do for both of them. I’m so happy that they found each other because they’re perfect for each other.”Farah also dismissed long-standing speculation that she distanced herself from Bobby because of actress Neelam Kothari. She insisted there was never any misunderstanding between them, adding that Neelam has always been a close friend. She clarified, “That’s not true at all. Neelam is my dearest friend. She came in Bobby’s life after Bobby and me. So, it wasn’t like she broke us up. So, I would not agree with that. We are very close. We had the most amazing childhood memories and we are still in touch. And honestly, I’m saying this because I’m the most blunt person and I’ve not done anything in my life which I will regret.”Bobby and Neelam were in a relationship for nearly five years before the actor made his Bollywood debut. The two eventually parted ways amicably in the early 1990s.Neelam had previously shared that she was the one who ended the relationship, explaining that she was apprehensive about the uncertainties of life as a “star wife.” She clarified that the breakup had nothing to do with family opposition or infidelity.Farah Khan Ali is a renowned jewellery designer and the sister of Sussanne Khan, who was previously married to actor Hrithik Roshan.
