‘House of the Dragon Season 3’ has been stealing the spotlight on the internet, with dramatic edge-of-the-seat plot twists and unprecedented deaths. Episode 2 was recently released, and the brutal decapitation of Ser Otto Hightower by Rhaenyra has fans gasping while predicting the future of the characters. The acclaimed actresses, Emma D’Arcy (who plays Rhaenyra) and Olivia Cooke (who plays Alicent Hightower), break down the reactions and drop hints about the course, as the characters’ reunion did not go as expected. Here’s a closer look at the breakdown of ‘House of the Dragon Season 3’ by Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke.

Olivia Cooke claims Alicent Hightower has a lot to process

In the recently released episode, Rhaenyra returns to King’s Landing and desires to acquire the Iron Throne. With Daemon’s encouragement, she brutally beheads Otto Hightower. Meanwhile, Alicent Hightower walks into the room to see her father lying on the ground and Rhaenyra sitting on the throne. Commenting on the moment, actress Olivia Cooke told PEOPLE, “Here’s a lot that Alicent doesn’t understand,” before adding, “[She] doesn’t know what’s happened.”While Alicent was not thinking practically up until now, Cooke believes the character’s arc is set to evolve. “I think she’s just like, okay, I’ve made this bargain with Rhaenyra,” she said, and continued, “This feels like a very public display of this assertion of power. I think Alicent is just like, ‘Okay, well, f*** you.”

Emma D’Arcy believes Rhaenyra is subject to the horror of violence

For the final moments of the episode, Emma D’Arcy believes that Rhaenyra did cross a line, but the powerful position demands it. “I think there’s an important point that the show makes about rulers of any kind being insulated from their acts of violence. And in this moment, Rhaenyra’s not insulated. In fact, she’s subject to the kind of viscerality and horror of violence,” the actress expressed, and added, “I think there’s a threshold that gets crossed in that moment, for better or for worse.”‘House of the Dragon Season 3’ continues to have a weekly release on JioHotstar.
