Cher continues to fight for Elijah Blue Allman’s conservatorship

Cher’s conservatorship hearing postponed after the judge denied her son, Elijah Blue Allman's request for self-representation

Cher’s hearing for the conservatorship of her son, Elijah Blue Allman has been postponed to September 1

Cher’s son, Elijah Blue Allman, is currently admitted to a psychiatric ward; however, his mother, Cher, is continuing her fight for conservatorship. After his arrest earlier this year, her son was admitted to the psychiatric ward. Following this, the veteran singer and actress has been attempting to place him under conservatorship for his own well-being. However, according to the latest updates, Allman has requested to represent his own case.

Cher continues to request the conservatorship of her son, Elijah Blue Allman

The Rolling Stone reported that Allman appeared for a court hearing via video call on June 25. After his request to represent himself in his case, which Judge Jessica A. Uzcategui denied, she postponed the hearing to September 1. Allman is currently held in a psychiatric facility in New Hampshire.A statement from the judge read, “In the court investigator report, Mr Allman has expressed no intention to return to California even once he’s released from the New Hampshire hospital,” while she also discussed whether she even had the jurisdiction over making the ruling in the case. She added, “And I understand that he may be held in New Hampshire up to a year and a half, and even then would be returned to a jail facility in New Hampshire or a treatment facility in New Hampshire. So under all of these circumstances, it doesn’t appear to me that Mr Allman will be back in California for quite some time, if ever, and I questioned the court’s jurisdiction.”On the other hand, Cher’s legal counsel, Justin Gold, stated that Los Angeles County is the appropriate place for the case to take place. He added, “The stated preference for Mr Allman is being made while he’s incarcerated in a mental institution, and he does not have capacity,” he declared. “The only reason he’s in New Hampshire right now is because he can’t leave. And for him to now say, ‘Oh, I’m not coming back to California,’ just to avoid jurisdiction here, that’s all this would be. His whole life is here.” The judge has now requested that Gold first file a legal brief with the court on the matter by July 16.

Not Cher’s first attempt at getting her son under conservatorship

Back in 2023, the actress filed a petition to get her son under conservatorship at the time, believing that he was not fully capable of handling his finances. However, after Allman declared he would change and was working on his health and well-being, his mother dropped the petition.

Elijah Blue Allman’s arrests

Earlier this year, in February, her son was arrested and was also charged with two counts of simple assault, criminal trespass, criminal threatening, and disorderly conduct. After he was released by the authorities, a few days later, he landed back in trouble and was arrested yet again. This time, he was charged with burglary, two counts of criminal mischief, and breaching his bail.Cher filed for temporary conservatorship; however, the judge denied the request, stating that Allman would not have access to his father’s trust while being charged and processed by authorities.Disclaimer: The information in this report is based on a legal hearing as reported by a third-party source.
