Lisa Riley ahead of her 50th birthday next month receives the high honor of becoming a Member of the Order of the British Empire.

As ‘Emmerdale’ star Lisa Riley is right around the corner from turning 50 years old, she ended up getting a huge surprise. As per the latest reports, the famed star, for her contribution to drama and charity, was honoured by getting the green light to become a Member of the Order of the British Empire.

Ahead of her 50th birthday, which will fall on July 13, the famed ‘Emmerdale’ actress was honoured with becoming a Member of the Order of the British Empire. Radio Times reported the news, sharing a list of all of the other famed names who have been bestowed with the honour.Some of the other stars who have received similar honours as per the list include Dame Helen Mirren, who is best known for ‘Mobland.’ She has been made a Member of the Order of the Companions of Honour. ‘Noughts & Crosses’ writer Malorie Blackman has also been honoured with the title of Dame. ‘Death on the Nile’ composer Patrick Doyle has also been named as a Member of the Order of the Companions of Honour.

Lisa Riley reacts to getting the MBE ahead of her 50th birthday

Reacting to the news, Riley could not contain her excitement. She shared in a statement that “Wow, if this is not my best 50th birthday present, being awarded an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours list, I don’t know what is. I am being awarded an MBE, Member of the Order of the British Empire, for my services to drama and to charity.”Further on, she added just how grateful she is to receive the honour and added, “To say I am humbled is an absolute understatement. To have been able to do my job as an actor for 36 years now, never having a day out of work in our industry, is an honour in itself.”She further talked about all the people to whom she is grateful, further adding that she is one of the first ‘Emmerdale’ cast members to receive this honour. She shared, “For me, playing the role of Mandy Dingle is the gift that keeps on giving. Not only that, being a woman in our industry, sisterhood means everything to me. The finest feeling today is that I can truly feel my mum’s smile and her electric energy on my shoulders, the pride that her little girl ‘DID IT’!”
