Kangana on her equation with Diljit ahead of their films’ box office clash

'I have nothing against that guy': Kangana Ranaut breaks silence on her equation with Diljit Dosanjh ahead of their films' box office clash

Kangana Ranaut has broken her silence on her equation with Diljit Dosanjh, saying she has nothing against him and the two have never even met. The duo had a public spat during the 2020-2021 farmers’ protests. Their films ‘Bharat Bhaagya Viddhaata’ and ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ both opened at around Rs 1 crore.

Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Bharat Bhaagya Viddhaata’ and Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ both hit the theatres on Friday, June 12, 2026, and the two films got off to a remarkably similar start at the box office. Amid all the buzz surrounding their releases, Kangana recently broke her silence in an interview and spoke about her relationship with Diljit.

Kangana Ranaut clears the air on her relationship with Diljit Dosanjh

In a candid conversation with NDTV, Kangana put all speculation about a rivalry with Diljit to rest, making it clear that there is no bad blood between them. She said, “We are not against each other. We just had contradictory opinions about a certain event. I’ve got nothing against that guy. We’ve never even met in life.” When asked if she would be open to meeting Diljit someday, Kangana did not hesitate and said, “Why not?” The interviewer then pushed further, asking if she would go as far as messaging Diljit to compliment him if she enjoyed his performance in Main Vaapas Aaunga, to which the actress burst out laughing and said, “That’s too much, na?”.

How the Kangana Ranaut and Diljit Dosanjh feud started

The tension between Kangana and Diljit dates back to the 2020-2021 farmers’ protests in India, when the two got into a heated public spat on social media. The controversy erupted after Kangana shared a tweet falsely claiming that an elderly woman protester from Punjab, Mahinder Kaur, was actually Bilkis Bano, the well-known “Dadi” of the Shaheen Bagh anti-CAA protests.

Diljit wasted no time in calling out Kangana on X (formerly Twitter) after her tweet, even sharing a video interview as proof that the woman in question was indeed Mahinder Kaur, a real farmer. The exchange quickly escalated into a full-blown war of words on the platform, with Kangana going as far as calling Diljit “Karan Johar’s chamcha.” However, it seems like Kangana has now decided to leave the past behind and move on.

‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ and ‘Bharat Bhaagya Viddhaata’ box office opening

On the box office front, both ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ and ‘Bharat Bhaagya Viddhaata’ got off to a slow start on their opening day. Diljit Dosanjh’s film managed to collect Rs 1.15 crore net in India, while Kangana’s film earned a slightly lower Rs 1 crore net on its first day. Both films have been warmly received by critics and have also been generating positive word of mouth among audiences. Go to Source
