Romeo Bongiovi, the 22-year-old youngest son of Jon Bon Jovi, has opened up about his relationship with fame, admitting he’s not really trying to think about that” despite following in his father’s musical footsteps. The musician, who forms part of the rock band Lawn, expressed his preference for keeping his career grounded and local rather than chasing global recognition.According to The Dory Jackson Interview series, Romeo discussed his philosophy on celebrity and his approach to building an audience. He explained: “I don’t really like the idea of celebrity even. If you focus too much on that, especially in the beginning, because I know a few artists who are, like, pretty popular or on the rise, but they keep everything so local that they know all of their fans. You know, they know every fan page, and they talk to them, and they know, like, every person who’s interested in the music.”

Romeo Bongiovi prioritises connection with fans over ‘world domination’

Romeo elaborated on his philosophy of maintaining authenticity in his career. “I think that if you’re focusing so much on the world domination of it all, that ultimately you lose vision. But right now, I’m trying to prepare for just meeting new people out here now that I’ve moved to Los Angeles.”The artist’s approach reflects a deliberate choice to build his musical career on personal connection rather than pursuing fame for its own sake, a perspective shaped by both his musical education and his experience in the industry.

Romeo Bongiovi explains how the University of Miami shaped his music career

Romeo revealed that his calling to music came during his teen years, though he initially had reservations about formal training. “For the longest time in middle school, when I knew I wanted to do music, I was like, ‘Man, but if you go to a college for music, you’re a total poser,'” he explained.

By high school, however, he reconsidered and decided to pursue higher education in music. After touring the University of Miami campus and its music school, he knew he’d found his place. “Okay, this is for me. That was like the nail in the coffin. I was 16, and I knew that, ‘Okay, music is what you want to do because for the first time you really feel at home here,'” he said.

Romeo graduated in May from the university’s music program.
