As Uttarakhand continues to reel under the impact of relentless rain-related disasters, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Rajasthan government for its timely and compassionate assistance. Taking to the social media platform X, CM Dhami thanked his Rajasthan counterpart for extending crucial support during the ongoing crisis.

“Heartfelt thanks to the Honorable Chief Minister for the crucial assistance provided during the disaster that struck Uttarakhand. In this difficult time, this sensitive initiative by the Rajasthan government will serve as a support for those affected by the disaster. We, all Uttarakhand residents, will always remember this warmth and spirit of cooperation,” CM Dhami tweeted.

The aid, described as both prompt and generous, has reportedly eased the burden on local authorities engaged in rescue and relief operations across the affected regions.

The Rajasthan government has contributed Rs 5 crore towards immediate relief and rehabilitation efforts for those displaced by rain-related incidents.

Earlier in the day, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma said he had spoken to CM Dhami over the phone and assured him of all possible assistance.

In a post on X, he wrote, “The extremely distressing and heart-wrenching situation arising from the severe floods in Uttarakhand, along with the loss of lives and property, is profoundly tragic. In this difficult time, with the objective of assisting the affected people, the Rajasthan government has sent an amount of 5 crore rupees to provide support for immediate relief and rehabilitation efforts.”

He added that Rajasthan stands firmly with the people of Uttarakhand.

“A telephone conversation was held with the Honorable Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Shri @pushkardhami ji, assuring him of all possible support from the Rajasthan government. Every resident of Rajasthan stands shoulder to shoulder with the brothers and sisters of Uttarakhand in this hour of crisis,” he further wrote.

The state has witnessed severe destruction due to heavy rainfall over the past few months. According to Vinod Kumar Suman, Secretary of Disaster Management and Rehabilitation, between April 1 and August 31, a total of 79 people have died in disasters across the state, 90 are missing and 115 others have been injured.

As many as 3,953 cattle have perished, 238 pucca and two kutcha houses destroyed, while 2,835 pucca and 402 kutcha houses were severely damaged, he said.

Further, a cloudburst incident was reported in Yamuna Valley in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district on Saturday, causing substantial damage in the Naugaon area. The impact of the cloudburst caused debris to bury a residential house, while muddy water from a stream flooded more than half a dozen homes. Several roads have also been closed due to landslides and flash floods, hampering rescue operations.
