Malaika: ‘The internet is loud, but it is not always wise’

Malaika Arora on dealing with online trolling: 'The internet is loud, but it is not always wise'

Malaika Arora, one of Bollywood’s most talked-about personalities, has opened up about navigating online trolling, setting firm personal boundaries, and finding peace away from the noise of public opinion. In a recent interview, the fitness enthusiast and entrepreneur reveals how age and self-awareness have helped her tune out the internet’s toxicity and stay grounded in who she is.

Malaika Arora talks about internet scrutiny

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Malaika Arora got refreshingly honest about how she manages the relentless scrutiny that comes with being in the public eye.She said, “I protect it (her inner joy) by remembering that the internet is loud, but it is not always wise. There’s a difference. Over the years, I’ve realised that if you keep handing your peace over to public opinion, you’ll never feel settled within yourself.”The actress, who recently launched her lifestyle accessories brand, elaborated on the practical steps she has taken to protect her mental well-being. The actress added, “I’ve learned to create boundaries. I don’t consume everything that’s said about me. I don’t internalise every opinion. I lean on real life, my work, my loved ones, my routines, the things that actually nourish me. That’s what keeps me grounded.”

Malaika Arora says with age, one stops reacting to everything

Malaika was candid in admitting that developing this resilience has been a gradual process, not something that came naturally from the start. She credited maturity and lived experience for the shift in her outlook. She said, “And honestly, with age comes perspective. You stop reacting to every passing noise. You understand that criticism often says more about the person throwing it than the person receiving it. My joy today comes from being anchored in who I am. That’s my maejoy. It’s personal, it’s protected, and it’s not up for public debate.”The remarks come at a time when Malaika’s personal life has continued to attract public attention following her split from actor Arjun Kapoor. Her comments signal a deliberate choice to keep that chapter, and her emotional life more broadly, firmly out of the public domain.

Work front

On the work front, Malaika Arora was last seen in the special number ‘Poison Baby’ in Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna starrer ‘Thamma’. The movie was released in October last year.
