Surrounded by friends and family at the final moments, Base passed away due to his cancer diagnosis. “Rob’s music, energy, and legacy helped shape a generation and brought joy to millions around the world. Beyond the stage, he was a loving father, family man, friend, and creative force whose impact will never be forgotten,” the caption said of the joint post, before adding, “Thank you for the music, the memories, and the moments that became the soundtrack to our lives.” Many fans paid homage to the beloved musician in the comment section, sharing their memories of him and his music. Rob Base (real name Robert Ginyard) was born on May 18, 1967, and became a sensation in 1988 after the release of the hit song ‘It Takes Two.’ He met his duo member, DJ E-Z, in the fifth grade while growing up in Harlem, according to People Magazine.
