The success story of Mohanlal’s ‘Drishyam’ continues to grow beyond Indian borders. Even as Drishyam 3, starring Mohanlal, enjoys a strong theatrical run, an official Indonesian adaptation of the blockbuster story has now been confirmed.

Indonesian remake officially announced

As reported by Variety, the Indonesian version has been titled Ayah, Aku Mau Cerita…, which translates to Dad, I Want to Tell You… in English.The film is scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release on August 20 this year Significantly, it will become the first Malayalam film to receive a dedicated remake for Indonesian audiences. Over the years, ‘Drishyam’ has inspired remakes in multiple languages across India and abroad.

Real-life couple to lead the cast

According to the portal, popular Indonesian celebrity couple Vino G. Bastian and Marsha Timothy have been cast in the lead roles.Bastian will step into the role inspired by Georgekutty, the ordinary family man who is forced to make extraordinary decisions to protect his loved ones.Timothy, meanwhile, will portray the investigator determined to uncover the truth hidden beneath a carefully crafted narrative.

Supporting cast and director revealed

The remake will be directed by Danial Rifki, who will bring the acclaimed story to Indonesian audiences. The supporting cast includes Niken Anjani, Ziva Magnolya, Gunawan and Pritt Timothy.The makers are expected to adapt the narrative to suit local cultural and social contexts while retaining the core emotional and suspense elements that made the original story a global success.

‘Drishyam 3’ continues worldwide run

Meanwhile, ‘Drishyam 3’, directed by Jeethu Joseph, continues its box office journey after opening strongly in theatres.The film collected Rs 11.05 crore net in India on its second day as reported by Sacnilk. While this represented a drop from the Rs 15.85 crore earned on opening day, the thriller maintained a solid presence at the box office. The movie was screened across 4,886 shows on Day 2, compared to 5,506 shows on opening day.After two days in theatres, ‘Drishyam 3’ has accumulated Rs 26.90 crore in India net collections.
