Mohsin once revealed if he regretted marrying Reena Roy

‘I wanted to stay in Pakistan’: Reena Roy’s ex-husband, cricketer Mohsin Khan, once revealed if he regretted marrying her

Bollywood and cricket are the two worlds that fans can never get enough of, and these two worlds have often collided in the most glamorous and loving ways. From Sharmila Tagore’s royal love story with Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi to Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli’s modern-day fairy tale, these couples and their love stories have always kept fans hooked. Amidst these stories, a few cross-border romances added an extra layer of intrigue, one of which was of Reena Roy and Pakistani cricket star Mohsin Khan.Let’s delve in closer to learn more about this love story.

Reena Roy’s marriage to Mohsin Khan

Reena Roy, one of Bollywood’s top actresses of the 1970s and 80s, married Pakistani cricketer Mohsin Khan in the mid-1980s. The wedding took place in Pakistan, after which Reena paused her acting career. The couple had a daughter and later returned to India. However, lifestyle and cultural differences eventually led to their divorce in the early 1990s.

Mohsin Khan expressed no regrets publicly

Despite the split, Mohsin Khan has always spoken about the marriage with fondness. In a past interview with G Sports, he said, “I have no regrets. I had married a human being, I didn’t see who she was or where she was from. Eventually, I had decided that I want to stay in Pakistan. Even though I went to England to play, I wanted to stay in Pakistan.”

Mohsin never saw Reena’s films before their wedding

Mohsin’s admiration for Reena went beyond her stardom. He added, “I never watched any of her films before our wedding, I swear upon God, no one believes this. I don’t watch, rarely do I. If I was leaving home and there was an Amitabh Bachchan scene going on, I would probably stop and watch, that too for a few minutes. But otherwise, I have never watched films. And I was never impressed by the beauty, I liked a good human being.”

Mohsin Khan’s brief acting stint

After cricket, Mohsin even tried his hand at acting. He debuted in JP Dutta’s 1989 film ‘Batwara’ and later appeared in ‘Fateh’, ‘Gunehgar Kaun’, ‘Pratikar’, ‘Saathi’, ‘Laat Saab’, ‘Madam X’, and ‘Mahaanta’.

Reena Roy’s successful Bollywood journey

Reena Roy began acting at just 15 with the drama ‘Zaroorat’. She rose to fame with hits like ‘Jaise Ko Taisa’, ‘Zakhmee’, ‘Kalicharan’, and ‘Nagin’. Her other blockbusters included ‘Jaani Dushman’, ‘Aasha’, ‘Arpan’, ‘Asha Jyoti’, ‘Naseeb’, and ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’.

Reena Roy returned to cinema after divorce

Following her divorce from Mohsin, Reena returned to India and made a comeback with ‘Aadmi Khilona Hai’. She later starred in ‘Ajay’, ‘Gair’, and ‘Refugee’, proving that her charm and talent remained timeless. Go to Source
