In a shocking and horrific incident, a two-month-old baby boy tragically died after a group of monkeys allegedly abducted him from a cot and placed him in a drum filled with water on the roof of the house in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur.

The incident took place in Surajpur village, under the jurisdiction of Makhrehta police station of the Sitapur district, on Thursday, when the infant was sleeping on a cot lying in the verandah of the house, and the family members were occupied with their daily chores, as per the media reports.

Meanwhile, a group of monkeys entered the house and abducted the child, and dumped him in the water drum, which was kept on the roof of the house.

The family came to know when they found the child missing from the cot.  After realising the child was missing, the family immediately began searching for him throughout the house and the surrounding area.

After an extensive search, the baby was found in the water-filled drum on the roof. The child was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

The sudden death has left the family devastated, especially as this was the couple’s first child. The tragedy has caused widespread distress among villagers. Locals claim that the area has long struggled with a persistent monkey menace.

The residents have now started urging authorities to take immediate action to address the monkey menace and prevent similar tragedies in the future.
