In the Punjab Assembly’s special session, a major controversy erupted after Congress MLAs staged a walkout and created a ruckus inside the House. During a discussion on a resolution related to International Labour Day, Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira alleged that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann appeared in the Assembly in an intoxicated state. The allegation triggered chaos in the House, with heated exchanges between opposition and ruling party members. Congress MLAs, led by Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa, strongly repeated the accusation and demanded that not only the Chief Minister but all members undergo a sobriety test to verify the claim. Following the uproar, Congress MLAs protested, raised slogans, and walked out of the Assembly, shouting “drunk Chief Minister” slogans. The Speaker intervened during the disruption, but the situation remained tense as the opposition continued its allegations, turning the session into a highly charged political confrontation.
