Security has been significantly strengthened across several states as authorities prepare for Muharram processions, with police conducting flag marches, surveillance operations, and public outreach to ensure peaceful observance of the occasion. Major cities and districts, including Delhi, Sambhal, Unnao, Prayagraj, Jehanabad, and Sheikhpura, have been placed on high alert. In Delhi, police carried out a flag march in Laxmi Nagar and surrounding areas, urging residents to celebrate the festival peacefully and maintain communal harmony. Similar confidence-building patrols were conducted in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal, where district officials and senior police officers visited sensitive localities and appealed for cooperation. In Unnao and Prayagraj, CCTV cameras, drone surveillance, and additional security personnel have been deployed to monitor Muharram procession routes. Bihar Police also intensified security in Jehanabad and Sheikhpura, warning that strict action would be taken against those spreading provocative or misleading content on social media. Meanwhile, a tragic incident overshadowed Muharram preparations in Madhya Pradesh’s Ratlam district, where three people lost their lives and nine others were injured after a Tazia reportedly came into contact with a high-voltage overhead power line in Hatnala village. The electric current spread through the structure, causing panic among participants. Emergency teams rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to Ratlam Medical College for treatment. The deceased have been identified as Rashid Khan, Shaddu Hussain, and Arbaaz Khan.
