Bengal Election Firestorm: TMC Candidate Jahangir Khan’s “Threat Video” Sparks Major Row

A political controversy in West Bengal has intensified after a video of TMC candidate Jahangir Khan surfaced, allegedly showing him issuing threats against central security forces. In the viral clip, Khan is heard making provocative remarks, including claims that those moving with central forces are “making big statements” and suggesting that security personnel would be unable to control the situation on the ground. His comments, interpreted as a challenge to the CRPF and election arrangements, have triggered a fresh political storm. The video comes amid an already heated dispute involving Uttar Pradesh IPS officer Ajay Pal Sharma, who has been deployed as an election observer in South 24 Parganas. Earlier, Sharma himself had faced criticism over a separate video in which he was seen warning local political workers and relatives of Jahangir Khan over alleged intimidation of voters. With both clips now circulating widely, the situation has escalated into a major BJP–TMC confrontation. The TMC has accused the Election Commission of biased deployment, while BJP has defended the officer as strict and impartial. The incident has further heightened tensions during the Bengal election period, turning it into a major political flashpoint.
