Man United reject midfielder’s transfer request, but Garnacho is set to join Chelsea

Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement for selling Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea, but they are set to block the loan deal request by a young midfielder despite him missing both the Premier League games.

Manchester United is set for a transfer frenzy as they made another disastrous start to a new season. After failing to win a single game in the two opening matches of the English Premier League, the Ruben Amorim-coached side lost to Grimsby Town in the League Cup recently.

Poor results are set to force United to look for new players and sell a few. The good news for them is that they have agreed a massive £40m for winger Alejandro Garnacho with Chelsea, reported the BBC.

Garnacho out of Man United, but Mainoo to stay back

The 21-year-old Argentine Garnacho doesn’t fit into Amorim’s plans and was asked by Man United to find a new team.

But midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is not going to leave United this transfer window, it seems. Mainoo did not feature in the two Premier League games against Arsenal and Fulham, indicating that Amorim prefers other players over him, but it seems the club is still not willing to let him go.

More from Football

Man United want Mainoo to stay back at the club despite the 20-year-old academy graduate telling the club that he wants to go out on a loan deal.

The Daily Mail linked Mainoo with a possible move to either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid. But as per the BBC, United have told the midfielder to stay back and fight for his place in the team.

Mainoo played 90 minutes of football against Grimsby, and it will be interesting to see if he is afforded more minutes in the EPL. But there are question marks over Amorim as well as how long he will continue at Manchester United.

Mainoo burst onto the scene at United under former coach Erik ten Hag and scored in the FA Cup final win over Manchester City. He started in 16 out of 45 matches under Amorim since the Portuguese tactician joined the club in November last year.

He is quite liked by the United fans who would want the young midfielder to stay back at Old Trafford.
