Who is Sheikh Mahra, the Dubai princess behind the viral ‘I divorce you’ post, now engaged to a rapper?

Sheikha Mahra, daughter of Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is now engaged to Moroccan-American rapper French Montana. The 31-year-old underwent a dramatic, high-profile divorce last year, accusing her husband of infidelity in an Instagram post

After a bitter Instagram-announced divorce last year, Dubai princess Sheikha Mahra Mohammed Rashed Al Maktoum, daughter of Dubai’s ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is now engaged to rapper French Montana.

A representative for Moroccan-American rapper confirmed the news to TMZ on Wednesday. The proposal reportedly took place in June during Paris Fashion Week, where the 40-year-old made his runway debut for 3.Paradis’ Ready-to-Wear Spring/Summer 2026 show.

Since early 2024, the two have been spotted together in Dubai and Morocco, dining at upscale restaurants, visiting mosques, and even sharing a quiet moment at the Pont des Arts in Paris.

And with a net worth estimated between $14 and $18 billion, she is counted among the wealthiest royals in the world.

French Montana and Sheikha Mahra’s past marriages

Last year, the princess shocked the world with an Instagram post accusing her husband, Sheikh Mana bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mana Al Maktoum, of infidelity, stating he was “busy with his other companions.”

“Dear Husband, As you are occupied with other companions, I hereby declare our divorce,” she wrote. The princess then invoked the Islamic practice of triple talaq to call their separation: “I to divorce you. I divorce you, and I divorce you. Take care. Your ex-wife,” she wrote in a dramatic Instagram post.

The revelation went viral. Just months earlier, the couple had tied the knot in a lavish wedding followed by an extravagant reception in Dubai. In May 2024, they welcomed their daughter, but signs of trouble soon appeared when Mahra posted a photo holding her baby, captioned: “Just the two of us.”

Following the split, she even launched a perfume named “Divorce” under her brand Mahra M1.

Not long after, Mahra was spotted with Moroccan-American rapper French Montana. Their Dubai outings instantly sparked dating rumours.

They were first linked together in October 2024, after Sheikha Mahra's divorce.

Montana, born Karim Kharbouch, has had his own high-profile history. He was married to entrepreneur Nadeen Kharbouch from 2007 to 2014, with whom he shares a son, Kruz. Over the years, his name has been linked to celebrities including Khloe Kardashian, Iggy Azalea, and Rubi Rose.

Best known for chart-toppers like Unforgettable and No Stylist, the rapper has also earned praise for his philanthropy, funding education and healthcare projects in Uganda and North Africa.

Interestingly, in a past interview, Montana admitted he had once been in a relationship with someone navigating a divorce. “It’s real emotional, it’s a sensitive space for them,” he told Elle in 2016. “It’s real s–t. But sometimes you have to sacrifice for what you want.”

According to TMZ, Mahra and Montana’s families are now on board, with wedding details still being finalised.
